Neil Hornett
Crawley Wheelers

Mike Anton reports: InGear Quickvit R.T continue their winning ways this season with James Dear winning this morning’s event.
This is quite a sporting course starting at Handcross on the A23 and taking in Cowfold, the A24, Steyning, Bramber, Henfield and returning back through Cowfold and Lower Beeding.

There is nothing ‘sporting’ about the stiff climb back through Crabtree in the closing stages, and the final drag up to the finish. In fact the final miles saw some close tussles and the finish line sprints were more akin to road racing than time trialling!

The weather was perfect and the stiff northeasterly wind of the previous days had abated, probably much to the relief of everyone, as it would have been a head wind back to the finish.

1st James Dear InGear Quickvit RT 01:39:27
2nd Dave Pollard InGear Quickvit RT 01:40:31
3rd Dave Shepherd Liphook Cycles RT 01:41:40
4th Neil Hornett Cykle Klubben Arhus 01:42:57

1st Lady was Charlotte Callesen of Cykle Klubben Arhus with 1:56:58.

Dave Pollard was fastest Vet overall but was beaten on standard by the evergreen Bob Stapley of Epsom CC. Mr Stapley also got the Vets team on standard with Bob Coleman.

Fastest team were the Crawley CC team of Dan Paine, Kevin Shaw and Clive Powell with 5:15:36
